we have LOADS of these guys around our house, and i did work experience with a wildlife carer and helped feed a pair of them. we stayed at a lodge down by the river and had about 11 of them hanging around while we were cooking the bbq. its funny as when you throw them a sausage and they try to kill it by smacking it on the ground XD whenever i trip over or do anything stupid outside they always start laughing at me. stupid birds XD i also held a little sacred kingfisher at home once, coz i turned on the outside light and it frightened him. he was so cute but very angry, so i let him go and he flew back into the tree. before that when he was on the ground he tried to attack my cat, who ran away terrified XD
blue winged kookaburras are awesome, in the area i live in they arn't that common, but i was walking home from work once and saw one on a short lightpost, it was so still i thought it was a statue (i can do many bird calls) so i started calling to it like a baby bird, then a chicken, a budgie then a lame kookaburra laugh and it all of a sudden started laughing at me....scared the shit out of me cos i seriously thought it was a statue lol. they dont sound the same as the laughing kookaburra however, so i bet thats why he laughed at me
oh my, this brought back one of my funnest experiences when I went to the zoo. I was near the bird okay, and like I of course had to try the worm thing where you put your finger in front of like a bird or something and wiggle it. Yeah well when I did it,(it was in a glass case) the kookabuura actually came for my finger and bumbed into the glass. I felt kinda bad at first but it got right up and then I started laughing my head off. Lucily no one was around when it happened.
I just had to share that story with you, hope you like it.
